Hello! Thank you for clicking on another day of the Summer of Stats. Today’s topic is Progressive Passes, which is defined as “a pass that moves your team toward the opponent’s goal. It’s a pass that progresses your attack forward, basically.” Per STLcity.com
The Columbus Crew leads all of Major League Soccer in Progressive Passes with a staggering 1383. However, individually, New England Revolution Forward Carles Gil is in first with 297 Progressive Passes by his lonesome.
Other individual players in the top ten include Dylan Chambost, Manu García, Cristian Roldan, Marky Delgado, Jack McGlynn, Jeppe Tverskov, Maximilliano Moralez, Lionel Messi, and finally, in 10th is Alhassan Yusuf.
St. Louis City SC is 27th in Progressive Passes, which shows their inability to consistently pressure opposing defenses night in and night out.
Marcel Hartel leads STL City in Progressive Passes by a mile with 139, which is more than twice that of second-place Conrad Wallem.
Thank you for reading today’s article! Stay tuned for more tomorrow as I'll be doing double duty.
